Chassis And Body Configuration
Pick the ISUZU chassis first, then the body. This page explains how the two are matched on the vehicles listed in this catalog.
The chassis decides what the body can be
Every vehicle in this catalog is an ISUZU chassis with a purpose-built body on it. The chassis sets the axle loads, the wheelbase and the frame length, and those three numbers decide the largest body that can legally and safely be fitted. That is why the specification table on each model page lists the chassis before it lists the body.
Chassis series you will see on this site
The light end of the range covers the ISUZU N series and the 100P, 600P and 700P cabs, normally used for bodies under about eight cubic metres or eight thousand litres. The F series, including FTR, FVR, FVZ and FVM, carries the mid-range bodies. The GIGA series carries the heavy work: large vacuum tanks, big compactors, heavy cranes, mixers and rotator wreckers. Drive types listed across the catalog include 4x2, 4x4, 6x4, 6x6 and 8x4.
What we need from you to configure it
- The daily load in tonnes, cubic metres or litres, not the body size you think you need
- Road surface and gradient, which decides whether an all-wheel-drive chassis is worth the extra cost
- Any legal axle limit at the destination, because that sets the ceiling on GVW
- Left or right hand drive, and the emission standard your customs will accept
- Optional equipment: fog cannon, water pump brand, crane reach, refrigeration unit, tipping gear
Building outside the listed sizes
The plant produces more than 800 kinds of ISUZU special-purpose products, and it can produce according to the customer's technical drawings and specifications. If the capacity you need falls between two listed models, send the drawing or the tender clause and we will confirm what is buildable on which chassis.
What does not change
The specification tables published here are the factory tables. When a configuration changes, the table changes with it and you get the revised one before the deposit, not after the truck is built.
